We were contacted by H&M Construction to quote the above projected back in 2023. Our starting point as always on a design build quotation is the heat loss as this is the most important element of design, this determines the selection of heat source power, pipe, pump, emitter sizing as well as discussion with end user on their hot water usage.

On this occasion we had architectural scaled drawing with U-values to carry out a full in-depth heat loss of the property based on the local area outdoor design temperature, using the Ever-green installer tool kit to comply with the MCS requirements and hold record on a professional database. We also carried out a long hand heat loss calculation to make allowance for the large extension the customer would like to build in the near future, this was important to allow capacity on the ASHP and MVHR system to cope with the added demand, whist currently meaning until the extension is build the ASHP would be over sized, so I selected a buffer vessel to eliminate this issue. Designing the pipe size pre buffer to allow ASHP to operate at its required flow rate, post buffer pipework, central heating pump sized to allow for extension however a double regulating commissioning valve was installed and commissioned to the current heat loss of the property of 0.333 L/S @ Delta 5 also MVHR air valves set to designed drawing table chart L/S required, both heating circuit and MVHR system will be recommissioned once extension built should the client decided to do so, this has been an important part of the project so the customer does not have to purchase an uplifted duty ASHP or MVHR unit in the future.
